I have offset the toned down colour with flowery drama. 
This sinamay hat perches on the side of the head, on the outside is just a gloriously big swirl that almost looks like a crown. On the inside I made wider 3D flower from braid and sinamay. There are some great tendrils that curl outwards, giving a visual balance.
The hat physically balances by what milliners call couture prongs. I made a double hairband and there are two v shape stabilisers that sit comfortably along the top of head. This is comfortable and helps the hat stay put.
